Alle Leuchtzellen die in Bergung benutzt werden, erhalten ihren Namen von verschiedenen Wolkenformationen.

Castellanus means “castle” in Latin, but in this context it appears to refer to a wide variety of clouds.

Cumulus castellanus

These are cumulus clouds (large, puffy, cottony clouds) which have multiple towers emerging from the top of the cloud, giving the vague appearance of a Medieval European castle. Cumulus castellanus appears as smaller, fragmented cumulus clouds with a tower like formation as a part of it. See this link for an image of a cumulus castellanus cloud [1]

Cirrus castellanus

These are cirrus clouds (thin, wispy clouds) which have multiple towers emerging from the top of the cloud, often occurring along a long horizontal base. For an image of these clouds, follow this link [2]

Cirrocumulus castellanus

These are cirrocumulus clouds (thin blanket clouds that look like a bright, white film over the sky) which have multiple towers emerging from the top of the cloud, often occurring along a long horizontal base

Altocumulus castellanus

These are fragmented altocumulus clouds (small cottony clouds found high up, typically white with a small gray portion) which have tower-like growths on their upper surface. They tend to resemble a series of towers with a shared horizontal base. These clouds appear between 6500- 20,000 feet. They tend to be indicators of mid-level instability in the atmosphere (troposphere specifically) and can develop into thunderstorms (cumulonimbus clouds). They can also indicate rough turbulence for any aircraft passing through them. See the links for images of this cloud [3], [4]

Stratocumulus castellanus

These are stratocumulus clouds (low, unevenly shaped clouds) which have multiple towers emerging from the top of the cloud, often occurring along a long horizontal base.
